Breast massage refers to the use of hands or tools to massage the breasts of mothers who are breastfeeding. There are many forms of breast massage in postpartum mothers, depending on the purpose of solving problems related to breastfeeding, such as stimulating and increasing blood and lymph circulation in the breasts, reducing muscle tension and increasing flexibility of the breast base and large chest muscles, stimulating the milk flow reflex, or stretching the muscles in the chest. Breast massage can be done alone or combined with expressing milk to drain the remaining milk in the breasts. It can be divided according to the purpose of breast massage as follows:

  • Breast massage to promote milk flow and increase milk supply.
  • Breast massage to relieve breast pain and breast engorgement
  • Breast massage to relieve blocked milk ducts

  • Mastitis, infection
  • People with skin diseases
  • People who have wounds in the breast area
